Le Thanh Tung

 

 

“The painting style is surreal and minimalistic” - that's what people say about my artworks. Actually, I don't follow any theme when painting. I just think with such space and such arrangement they express the best my ideas and stories. The color tone in the picture will match the arrangement and nature of each story. I don't like flashy colors, but that doesn't mean my paintings don't have “color”. They are subtle, but when looked at closely, the mixture of colors in the picture can be seen. I studied in China and Japan for more than 10 years, so the cultures of these two countries are the biggest influence on my artistic thinking.

 

In my works throughout, I always choose animal imagery to indirectly talk about my feelings about human life and the society around me. To me, animals always have their own characteristics. Based on their characteristics, I exploit and choose the right animal images for each picture to express my intention - or in other words, they are my language in the painting. After choosing the image, I set up a small story on the picture so that people can feel about it.

 

Tung is actually Member of the Vietnam Fine Art Association and Fine Art Teacher at FPT International University - Vietnam.
