Nguyen Minh Quan's compositions are all about flowers and silk. Talking about his own creative inspiration, he confessed:
"Painting has the beauty of making a moment eternal, creating a thought - as if life was a combination of short moments in which people have to express what is most meaningful to them. Like flowers, the time to shine is the time to bloom, to show off their colors, to show off their fragrance, most importantly to attract bees and butterflies to pollinate. Flowers bloom, wither, reproduce, the endless circle of nature is also a process that people must go through as the moment in front of them might seem like eternity, but soon will become past. Seeing the flowers reminds me to cherish this moment.
From painting flowers he opened up to the "Taoism" - to be able to open oneself, find the essence, and know the duality between the dark and the light. The endless rotations are key to the "Tao" - Buddhists call “the Middle Way”. Thereby leading viewers to a place of Bong Lai (which could be loosely translated as “Nirvana”) or a fictional fantasy forest where everything blooms in an eternal cycle."
